‘Amazing’, ‘Brilliant’ – Man United fans absolutely buzzing as Harry Maguire contract update emerges
Man United supporters are in total agreement over the latest news on Harry Maguire as his future goes under the microscope at Old Trafford.
West Ham had been heavily linked with Maguire, and not just in the previous transfer window, but the 33-year-old clearly feels he has more to give for the Red Devils.
Michael Carrick has worked wonders at Man United, and one of his decisions has been to bring the former captain back into the lineup, which has appeared to be a masterstroke so far.
Alongside Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, multiple defenders appear to have put their injury struggles behind them, and United clearly feel that a new contract is in order for the experienced centre-back.
Harry Maguire is increasingly likely to stay at Man United
The former Leicester City player is out of contract once the 2025-26 campaign expires, with plenty being made about his next potential club, but he might not be going anywhere for now.
According to the Daily Mail (10 February), Maguire is now increasingly likely to pen new terms at Old Trafford, with his situation much different to Casemiro‘s, who has already announced his impending exit.
The majority of supporters are extremely happy about the fresh update on Maguire’s future, labelling it “brilliant” and “amazing,” due to the squad needing as much experience as possible.
- @dantez1995: “Deserved. On performance, he deserves a new deal. We also need experience.”
- @emdeity: “He should! He plays like a captain since being unnamed of captain.”
- @DevilsUnitedHQ: “Besides being vital in defence, he’s a key leader who can help young players like Yoro and Heven to develop. Our ‘Slabhead’ is staying!”
What has Maguire said about his future at Old Trafford?
Those behind the scenes are likely to keep all proceedings under wraps, though that is often very difficult in this day and age, and something more is always going to be leaked at some point.
However, Maguire has previously spoken about his desire to stay at the Theatre of Dreams, fighting through a rollercoaster of years with several different managers.
Speaking back in August 2025 [Ireland Live], he said: “I don’t want to put it out there to everybody, but it’s an amazing club to play for, and you’d be silly if you wanted to jump out of it as soon as you could.”
Despite all of his setbacks, he has never openly spoken negatively about the Red Devils, staying loyal ever since his move from the King Power Stadium in 2019, and earning the love of the fans.
The club will have to find a replacement one day, but with United currently in a rebuild and a time of transition, his experience and knowledge could be absolutely vital over the next couple of seasons.
