Amid Diallo claim as ‘Man United ready Bryan Mbeumo swoop’

Man United are eyeing a move to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the summer transfer window, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old is among a number of targets for Ruben Amorim.

Mbeumo’s goalscoring prowess and consistency are viewed as important assets for United in a side which has struggled in both departments.

However, Brentford are set to demand a “huge fee” for their star man after Football Insider revealed Mbeumo has a £50million asking price.

There are also concerns that he would block Amad Diallo’s process and he is not believed to be among the first names on Amorim’s shortlist.

As a result, Amorim will be forced to make a decision about where Mbeumo would fit in his side.

Man United to make Bryan Mbeumo transfer decision

Brown told Football Insider in October that Arsenal are long-term admirers of Mbeumo, while Newcastle have also been heavily linked with the winger.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the Brentford man is now under consideration at Old Trafford.

Bryan Mbeumo has been one of the names mentioned at Man United,” he told Football Insider.

“I don’t think he’s been a long-term target for them, but he’s come onto their list in recent weeks.

“He’s a very steady, consistent player and he performs to a good level every week for Brentford, and he scores plenty of goals, United don’t have many players like that.

“He’d come into the team on the right-hand side, but there are concerns he could block Diallo’s progress.

“So they’ll have to make a decision about where Mbeumo fits in the team.

“If they think they can have them both in the side, then they’ll go for it, but they have to be sure.

“He’d also probably cost a huge fee which United may not be willing to reach.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt Mbeumo would be an improvement on what Man United have got, but the right-hand side isn’t one of their priorities.

Liam Delap update emerges after Ruben Amorim promise

As part of their plans to strengthen their attacking options, Man United are also plotting a move to sign Ipswich Town star Liam Delap this summer.

Brown told Football Insider on 21 April that United lead Chelsea in the race for Delap and are prepared to promise him regular first-team football.

Delap has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 32 appearances in his debut Premier League season despite his team’s struggles to pick up points.

The striker has a £40million release clause in his contract and is widely expected to leave Portman Road following their impending relegation.
