Andoni Iraola to Real Madrid decision made after ‘I spent two days talking to people in Madrid’

Real Madrid could be on the lookout for a new manager at the end of the season if Carlo Ancelotti moves on from the club.

According to the Mail, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is on the shortlist to replace him ahead of next season.

The 42-year-old has impressed people this season as the Cherries have thrived in the Premier League.

Bournemouth currently sit fifth in the Premier League table after wining 12 of their 25 games so far this season, with their attacking style of play catching the eye.

However, the Spanish giants are not the only club who have been wowed by his work as Tottenham are also keeping an eye on his situation.

That is something Bournemouth’s hierarchy are aware of as industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that the Cherries are doing everything in their power to agree a new deal with Iraola.

Real Madrid make decision on appointing Andoni Iraola

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed Iraolo is unlikely to go to Real Madrid after he has bee “talking to Madrid journalists.”

“There’s absolutely no chance Iraola’s going to Real Madrid,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“I’ve spent two days in Madrid talking to Madrid journalists, the next manager there is not going to be Iraola.

“This is in no disrespect to anybody.

“Real Madrid do not get rid of Carlo Ancelotti and bring in the Bournemouth manager.

“You see what Iraola’s done at Bournemouth and you can understand the links and you can understand the links to some of the top jobs.

“I like the way that Bournemouth play, and he’s a very good manager.”

Andoni Iraola could replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Iraola might not be replacing Ancelotti at any point in the future, but he could be next in line to take over at Tottenham.

Postecoglou is under severe pressure at Spurs due to their underwhelming first half of the season in the Premier League.

Robinson exclusively told Football Insider that Tottenham will give Postecoglou “one more chance” due to the ongoing injury crisis, but the door could be open to Iraola if results don’t improve after that.
