‘Andre Onana is a disgrace to Man United’ – fans erupt after latest twist
Man United fans took their anger out on Andre Onana once again this season, after his role in both goals conceded against Lyon.
Man United were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final, letting a promising position slip in the closing stages.
But tensions had already started to boil over even before kick-off, following a public spat between Onana and former Man United midfielder Nemanja Matic on social media.
The Serbian had taken aim at the goalkeeper over his pre-match comments about Lyon, going as far as calling him “one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United’s history”.
The drama clearly unsettled Onana, who endured another error-strewn evening in a United shirt.
The Cameroon international was at fault for Lyon’s first goal, completely misjudging a wide free-kick that bounced straight into the net despite looking like an attempted cross.
After Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee turned the game on its head to give United a 2-1 lead, Onana made another costly error-spilling a save deep into stoppage time, which allowed Rayan Cherki to tap home the equaliser.
His double mistake has only increased the scrutiny around him, with United fans growing increasingly vocal in their criticism as pressure continues to mount.
Andre Onana ‘unsettled’ at Man United amid transfer interest from Saudi Arabia
The 29-year-old has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford, and recent performances have only added to the growing frustration among the fanbase.
Manchester United supporters have repeatedly called for Onana to be sold, following a string of costly mistakes across the campaign.
The goalkeeper has now made more errors leading to goals than any other player in all competitions this season, with eight recorded.
Their calls may soon be answered, with reports suggesting that Onana is feeling unsettled at Man United. Interest from Saudi Arabia remains strong, and a summer move could be on the cards.
Concerns over his form have been building behind the scenes for some time. Back in February, former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Man United staff at the club were growing increasingly concerned about Onana’s performances.

Man United fans run out of patience with error-prone Andre Onana
Onana’s most recent display did little to silence critics. Rather than responding to Matic’s brutal pre-match comments, his performance seemed to confirm the former United midfielder’s harsh words.
His ongoing struggles when playing out from the back have frequently led to avoidable errors, compounding the sense of unrest among fans.
But making those mistakes in a European knockout tie, United’s last realistic shot at silverware this season, has proved to be a breaking point for many.
One supporter fumed: “Onana is nothing short of a disgrace. I never want to see him in a United shirt again.” Another added: “Man Utd, please sell Onana. Worst goalkeeper ever.”
