Andre Onana poised for Man United transfer as clubs’ offer accepted
Andre Onana could be about to seal a shock exit from Man United after a club playing in Europe agreed a deal to sign him for the season.
Man United ended the last campaign in 16th position in the Premier League, their worst league finish since 1974, and Cameroonian international goalkeeper Andre Onana again struggled to consistently impress in-between the sticks at Old Trafford.
He joined the club for £43.8million [Sky Sports] from Inter Milan back in 2023, but numerous high-profile mistakes over the last two years have seen his stock fall under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.
Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that Man United were preparing to accept offers for Onana this summer, amid interest from the Saudi Pro League, but he remained at the club past the end of the transfer window in the UK.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (3 September) that Onana could still be sold soon with windows in other countries still open for business, and that may well be the case after United agreed a deal for him to leave on loan.

Trabzonspor reach verbal agreement to sign Andre Onana on loan
Fabrizio Romano (6 September) has reported, via X, that Turkish club Trabzonspor have reached a verbal agreement with Man United to sign Onana on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
He states that a club to club agreement is in place for him to move to the Super Lig side after United accepted the offer, but the final decision is now up to him over whether he wants to leave Old Trafford, so a deal is not completely sealed as yet.
Andre Onana should leave Man United with Senne Lammens likely to take his place
Football Insider verdict
The fact that United have signed off on a deal to allow him to leave should tell Onana all he needs to know about his current standing with Amorim’s squad.
Altay Bayindir has been chosen to start ahead of him in each of the club’s first three Premier League games this season, and young Belgian stopper Senne Lammens joined Man United just before the deadline last week too.
Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
102 | 150 | 24 |
His arrival is likely what has pushed the Red Devils to sanction this move, and Onana should grab it with both hands considering his current prospects at Old Trafford.
The chance to go back abroad and consolidate himself as a number one in a decent league should definitely be something that appeals to him, and even though it is a step down from United in terms of club size, it could provide him a great platform to thrust himself back into Amorim’s plans for next season.
