Andre Onana responds to Carlos Baleba’s new message after Man United decision

Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana was among the players to respond to Carlos Baleba’s latest message as speculation over a potential move to Old Trafford continues.

Man United have endured a hectic summer window, with Ruben Amorim placing much of the focus on rebuilding the attack.

The likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha have arrived Man United and already given fans cause for optimism, even if the new-look frontline couldn’t prevent an opening-day defeat to Arsenal.

Attention has also turned towards midfield reinforcements, with Football Insider revealing Man United held talks to sign Baleba.

The 21-year-old has been open to a move, but Brighton’s demands have proven a stumbling block. Now, reports claim the United hierarchy have since made a decision not to pursue the deal this summer [The Athletic].

In the meantime, he has posted a message on social media which quickly caught the attention of United players, including Onana, who joined others in reacting.

Carlos Baleba issues message to Brighton fans amid Manchester United transfer links

Despite the ongoing speculation over his future, Baleba has shown his focus remains with Brighton after sharing a message following their draw with Fulham.

The midfielder posted multiple photos from the match alongside the caption: “Just me doing the thing I love most. Had fun playing at home with the boys. Nothing new here, just my number and a haircut.”

His update drew plenty of responses, and United supporters may have been quick to notice that both Onana and new signing Mbeumo were among those to like the post.

It is no surprise that United have been interested after his breakthrough campaign last season, where Baleba was named Brighton’s Young Player of the Season.

The Seagulls, however, value him extremely highly, and with a price tag exceeding £100million, and even though Man United were reportedly willing to offer Jadon Sancho to Brighton as part of a deal, it seems as if a transfer is looking unlikely this summer.

Andre Onana future in doubt at Manchester United

While Onana was active on social media, his own future at Old Trafford has been thrown into question. Amorim left the goalkeeper out of the squad for United’s opening-day defeat to Arsenal despite the player recovering from injury.

Speaking after the match, Amorim said: “We try to choose the best players for each game” [The Mirror], a comment which only added fuel to speculation that Onana could be moved on before the window closes.

The Cameroon international was not the only absentee, with striker Rasmus Hojlund also left out of the Man United squad, hinting that both players could be edging towards the exit door in the final weeks of the window.
