Andy Couzens blasts Charlie Taylor after shocking refusal to play for Leeds
By Will Butcher
Andy Couzens has heavily criticised Charlie Taylor after the Leeds defender refused to play against Wigan on Sunday afternoon.
Garry Monk revealed after the game that the 23-year-old had rejected the chance to wear the white of Leeds once more, as the Yorkshire giants drew 1-1 against Wigan at the DW Stadium.
Posting on his personal Twitter account, former Leeds midfielder Couzens tore into Taylor, claiming there was a “total lack of respect” from the left-back.
Leeds’ number 21 was replaced by Switzerland international Gaetano Berardi at left-back, while Lewie Coyle started on the right in a makeshift defence following Pontus Jansson’s suspension.
Taylor is now expected to leave Elland Road with only two months remaining on his current contract, after refusing to put pen to paper on a new deal with Monk’s side.
The Telegraph reported last week that Premier League outfit West Brom are already in talks with the left-back’s representatives about a potential move to the Midlands.
Since making his Leeds debut against Bradford in 2011, Taylor has gone on to make 104 senior appearances for his boyhood club and also won last season’s player of the year award.
However, Taylor is now expected to leave in the summer with his decision not to play on Sunday to prove the final chapter in his Leeds voyage.
In other Leeds news, the club’s supporters destroyed their attacker on Twitter after his display against Wigan.
