Sky Sports pundit predicts Rangers clash against Celtic

Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker has offered his prediction for the upcoming Old Firm derby at Ibrox on Sunday.

Writing in his column on the Sky Sports website, the former Hoops striker has tipped his old club to win a high-scoring clash 3-2, with his tip for key man Hoops midfielder Callum McGregor.

“Should get the nod over Tom Rogic, McGregor has shown how well he handles these big match occasions,” Walker said.

McGregor has shown his class in two games against Rangers last season, where he scored in consecutive games in consecutive weeks, and more recently in the 1-0 victory over Zenit, where he crashed home the winning goal.

Celtic are currently six points clear of Rangers in the Premiership table and also hold a game in hand.

Football Insider verdict

Whilst Walker may be correct in predicting a victory for Brendan Rodgers’ side, the chances of it being a high-scoring game seem unlikely. The two matches between the teams this season have only produced a total of two goals, with no goals in the last meeting between the sides in December. Both teams are likely to be cautious at first, as the game has so much riding on it as a Hoops victory would all but clinch the title, and perhaps as the game reaches its’ climax the match could well open up, but five goals in the game seems like a stretch.
