Ange Postecoglou: Celtic ‘hero’ tipped to demand new deal after major development – Kenny

Ange Postecoglou has earned another year as Celtic manager even if he doesn’t lead his side to the title this season.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Postecoglou’s impact.

On Wednesday (2 March) the Australian A-League confirmed Celtic will face Rangers in a mid-season friendly down under in November.

The Australian tour has been labelled as “Ange’s homecoming” suggesting the Hoops boss will still be in charge next season.

Postecoglou signed a 12-month rolling contract when he joined the club in the summer of 2021.

Kenny suggested Postecoglou could even renegotiate terms after leading his side to silverware this season.

“He’s done better than anyone thought he would,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You wouldn’t talk about a homecoming tour if you weren’t certain he will be there in November.

“It’s a 12-month deal, I wonder if he could renegotiate and get himself a better deal because he has done so well.

“Celtic could win the league, that would be crazy considering how far off they were last season.

“Even if Celtic don’t win the league they will keep him on, he looks so loved by the fans, he’s a hero.

“A new deal would be well deserved but I don’t know what he’s like, he might be happy doing what he’s doing.”
