‘Ange Postecoglou crossed a line’ – Outrage as manager turns on Tottenham fans

Ange Postecoglou has been accused of turning on his own supporters following comments he made about the Tottenham faithful.

The Australian has often been criticised for his excuses following defeats this season, with the multitude of injuries to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie at the forefront.

Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham is under immense pressure so it is no surprise to see him attempting to find reasons for the poor form, especially when Spurs are sitting 13th in the Premier League table.

After being knocked out of the FA Cup and EFL Cup, there is just the Europa League title left to fight for, but with little enthusiasm left in the supporters, that feeling is clearly starting to affect the squad.

Bournemouth took a well-deserved two-goal lead in North London on Sunday 9 March, needing goals from Pape Sarr and Son Heung-min to save Spurs from a 15th league defeat of the campaign.

Unsurprisingly, fans were not eager to rally behind their team and push for a draw, but Postecoglou looks to have angered many with his comments following the 2-2 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou accused of using Tottenham fans as his excuse

Speaking to the media after the game, Postecoglou said: “I can’t dictate to people how they interact, but AZ’s crowd certainly helped them on Thursday night.

“We need our crowd to get behind the boys on Thursday to make it an atmosphere where maybe we lose some of that nervousness and anxiety within our game,” comments which have not gone down well.

He also added: “At 2-0 down it would have been very easy, particularly with the atmosphere as it was, for the boys to just let the game get away from us.”

Daniel Levy surely running out of patience in North London

When the going gets tough in North London, and the finger starts pointing towards Daniel Levy, the owner’s first instinct is usually to make a change of manager.

That is exactly what the supporters would seem to like at this point in time, especially after bringing them into the reason for Spurs’ failures on the pitch.

Tottenham fans have also hammered Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur due to their performances against the Cherries, and Postecoglou now looks to have backed himself into a corner with his recent comments.

One fan has stated that turning on the fans is “a line you can’t cross” as Spurs manager while another labelled him as the “worst coach” in the club’s history.
