Ange Postecoglou dealt ‘huge blow’ by Kane twist at Tottenham – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Ange Postecoglou’s pre-season preparations have been dealt a “huge” blow by the uncertainty surrounding Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted it is “baffling” that a final decision on the 29-year-old has been taken so close to the new season.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (25 July) that Tottenham are now ready to cash in on Kane if he doesn’t accept the club’s offer of a new contract.

Man United and Bayern Munich are in the hunt for his signature – with Bayern set to launch a bid of almost £100million in the coming days.

Kane remains on pre-season duty with Tottenham in Singapore but could now depart with less than three weeks to go until the new season gets underway.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (25 July) that Tottenham are eyeing a big-money striker signing should their hitman leave – with Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus being considered as a potential option.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “This should have been sorted last week, at the latest.

“That would have given Postecoglou three weeks with a squad he knows he will have for the season.

“He can’t draw up plans around Kane now. He can’t put a plan in place for Maddison, Son, Kulusevski or Richarlison because he doesn’t know who will be in the middle.

“It’s baffling for me. Especially for a new manager, it’s so important that you get this time to work with the players.

“This decision should’ve been taken at the start of the window, so everyone knows where they stand.

“They’ve gone about it in completely the wrong way, it’s a huge problem.”
