Ange Postecoglou: Glasgow pundit ‘loves’ what Celtic boss said to ‘big Rangers fan’ last night

Frank McAvennie “loved” Ange Postecoglou’s comments to a BBC reporter after Celtic beat St Mirren.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, also hailed his former side’s performance.

Celtic beat St Mirren 2-0 on Wednesday (2 March) with goals from Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor sealing the win.

The Hoops found St Mirren hard to break down with BBC reporter Kenny Macintyre telling Ange Postecoglou [BBC Sportsound, 22.00]: “That was a hard watch at times”.

The Celts boss replied, “maybe you’re disappointed with the way it went, mate.”

McAvennie loved what he heard from Postecolgou but admitted he was disappointed with St Mirren’s approach.

“I was at the game last night and Celtic completely dominated,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They just couldn’t break the defence down, they had something like 75% possession.

St Mirren came within a game plan to not play which I was disappointed with but it is Celtic’s job to break them down.

“I have seen Celtic play better and quicker but they are still winning games.

“They could have easily drawn last night but they kept going and they didn’t.

“I loved what Postecoglou said to the reporter, Kenny Macintyre, he’s a big Rangers fan.

“So yeah, it might have been hard for him to watch. In fairness, it wasn’t a good match but they won the game and that’s the bottom line.”
