Ange Postecoglou has already endorsed Tottenham target who will bring ‘real energy’

Ange Postecoglou could still play an important role at Tottenham despite no longer being in charge in North London.

Daniel Levy relieved Postecoglou of his duties during the summer as one of his final roles at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Brentford being raided for Thomas Frank.

However, just 33 games into his tenure, Frank is already under major pressure, recording his lowest win-rate since going into management, with the Lilywhites facing a make-or-break situation.

The January transfer window could be a major turning point for the 52-year-old, especially with Tottenham now without Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, and Lucas Bergvall.

Thomas Frank adds Andy Robertson to his transfer wishlist

Add that to an ever-growing list of injuries, such as James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Ben Davies, and Frank is in desperate need of help from the hierarchy before the window shuts.

Tottenham have already added Souza to the squad, but given that he is just 19 years of age, the boss could use some more experienced players during the second half of the campaign.

According to David Ornstein (23 January), Spurs are working on a deal to sign Liverpool‘s Andy Robertson, bringing forward their plan of signing the veteran full-back on a free next summer.

Since the signing of Milos Kerkez, the Scotland international has fallen down Arne Slot‘s pecking order, but there is absolutely no doubt over his abilities and leadership on the pitch.

Ange Postecoglou has great respect for the Liverpool star

Supporters in North London still look out for Postecoglou and his future endeavours, so many will take note of what the former boss had to say about the club’s latest transfer target.

Speaking in June 2024 [DaveOCKOP], the Australian said: “Their strength, and they showed it in the second game, is just the capacity to run, harass and real energy.

“Robertson, [John] McGinn, [Callum] McGregor, Billy Gilmour and [Scott] McTominay. If they can bring that, then they can cause any team problems.”

Robertson would add a new dynamic to the left flank, and with four major trophies under his belt at Anfield, the 31-year-old would bring a much-needed winning mentality to the team.

It will likely be a tough deal to do so late in the transfer window, but it is one that needs to be done before 2 February.
