Ange Postecoglou pushing for two Tottenham signings, priority revealed – sources

Ange Postecoglou is pushing for two new arrivals at Tottenham in the final week of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Australian is keen for chairman Daniel Levy to loosen the purse strings at Spurs after their recent struggles on the pitch.

It is believed a forward signing is the priority for Postecoglou and his transfer team despite the problems in their defence, which has been decimated by injuries.

A new defender could be brought in before the 3 February deadline if the right deal is available, but Cristian Romero has recently returned to training to provide a big boost for Spurs.

James Maddison, Timo Werner and Djed Spence are the most recent additions to the injury list at Tottenham – which includes a big portion of their first-choice starting eleven.

Levy has drawn most of the ire from Spurs fans, who chanted for the 62-year-old’s departure during the 2-1 home loss against Leicester on Sunday (26 January).

Tottenham prioritising forward signing ahead of 3 February deadline

Spurs have made just one signing so far in this window – adding goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague in the opening days of this month.

Tottenham sit 15th in the Premier League table and are without a top-flight win in seven games.

The Lilywhites are in Europa League action against Elfsborg on Thursday (30 January) and are well placed to progress directly to the last 16 of the competition.

Postecoglou’s side are also 1-0 up in their League Cup semi-final against Liverpool ahead of the second leg at Anfield on 6 February.
