Ange Postecoglou sack: Nottingham Forest have ‘perfect’ replacement lined up

Ange Postecoglou is fighting for his job at Nottingham Forest as the club work on bringing in a replacement.

Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo just three games into the season in a bid to turn around their fortunes, but has failed to win any of his first seven games.

Forest fans have called for Postecoglou’s sack, with large sections of the crowd singing “sacked in the morning” during their defeat to Midtjylland.

Football Insider revealed on 6 October that Postecoglou will be given time by Nottingham Forest’s hierarchy, who are hopeful he can turn things around.

However, the tide is already turning against the boss, with a number of replacements now being assessed behind the scenes at the City Ground.

Sean Dyche in line to replace Ange Postecoglou

Football Insider revealed on 12 October that Nottingham Forest are assessing replacements for Postecoglou with a new list drawn up by Evangelos Marinakis.

Sean Dyche is now believed to be the leading contender for the role, with Forest aiming to switch back to a more pragmatic approach after their recent defensive issues.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Dyche is the “perfect” option to help Forest reverse their fortunes.

Forest are in a difficult situation at the moment,” he told Football Insider.

“They had a great season last time out, did really well, but I think it would be fair to say they were playing above themselves, as good as they were.

“Now, all of a sudden, they’ve dropped off a bit, the manager [Nuno] and the owner have fallen out and he’s been sacked, and Postecoglou has come in.

“I didn’t see him being the answer to their prayers, the issues he had at Tottenham have been on show again at Forest and so now there’s pressure on him.

“It looks like Sean Dyche has emerged as the front-runner for the job if they are going to make another change, and that’s something that would make a lot of sense.

“He knows the club, he’s local, and would bring that stability that they’ve been missing.

“I think he would be the perfect fit for them, much more so than Postecoglou is, and I think it would be the right decision if they were to bring him in.”

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 11 October that Marinakis expects Postecoglou to start winning games and their form must turn if he wants to save his job.

Nottingham Forest assessing Postecoglou replacements

Football Insider revealed on 12 October that Postecoglou faces a “huge” clash against Chelsea after the international break in his attempts to save his job.

However, should Forest’s poor form continue after the break, he is growing increasingly likely to be dismissed, with a number of alternatives on their radar.

Football Insider revealed on 11 October that Rafael Benitez is a contender for Forest, joining Dyche on the list of managers with a more pragmatic approach.

Meanwhile, Fulham boss Marco Silva is of interest to Forest, having previously worked under Marinakis during his time managing Olympiacos.

Football Insider revealed on 10 October that Fulham fear losing Silva in the near future, with less than a year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage.
