Ange Postecoglou ‘to rip up Tottenham tactical plan’
Ange Postecoglou is ready to adjust his tactical plan to help Tottenham with their recent defensive issues after recent performances.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains very well-connected at the club, explained that the boss needs to make changes if he wants to challenge for silverware.
Postecoglou has faced pressure for the inconsistencies Tottenham have shown on the pitch and the number of goals they have conceded.
A 3-2 defeat to Brighton last time out, having led 2-0 at half-time, saw multiple defensive errors cost his side, but their inability to take control of the game was exposed once more.
It is said the manager still has plenty of credit in the bank for what he has done since arriving in North London, but there are growing concerns that the same issues are not being resolved.
While a record of eight goals conceded in seven games is far from disastrous, the manner of conceding those goals has raised red flags amongst the supporters.
As a result, Postecoglou is expected to return to the drawing board in an attempt to establish further defensive solidity in his team.
Ange Postecoglou tipped to make tactical switch after Tottenham concerns
Tottenham’s defensive frailties were exposed once more at the Amex after their 61 goals conceded last season led to questions about the gung-ho style of play.
Robinson, meanwhile, has called on both the players and the manager to take responsibility and work towards improving the situation and has tipped Postecoglou to make tactical tweaks in search of better defensive security.
“He’s got credit in the bank from what he did in his first season,” he told Football Insider.
“He changed the style of play and changed the way the fans view this team.
“However, people are getting frustrated because everybody watching the game can see it, they’re so wide open and the defensive frailties are there.
“There are silly mistakes as well which aren’t necessarily down to the manager, but the tactics and style of play are absolutely down to the manager.
“It’s the regularity with which Tottenham are conceding goals, that’s the issue.
“They leave the defence so exposed and they’re being found out, week-in-week-out.
“At some point, he’s going to have to change things.
“If they’re going to win things and challenge for the Champions League places, you can’t drop points in the way they did at Brighton.

“He’s got vast experience and he’s a clever coach, he’s not sending his teams out gung-ho to throw away two-goal leads, but that’s what’s happened.
“I think it’s a situation that he will address, change the tactical plan and the players have to take responsibility as well.”
