Ange Postecoglou ‘won’t mess about’ after Celtic ‘statement’ – McAvennie
Frank McAvennie has claimed Celtic “won’t take any chances” in their upcoming Premier Sports Cup match against Ross County.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Hoops striker said Ange Postecoglou “won’t mess about” with his team selection after making a “statement” by winning the competition last year.
On Monday (25 July), Celtic confirmed they will face Ross County in the second round of the League Cup.
The Scottish Champions won the League Cup last season after coming from behind to beat Hibernian 2-1 in the final.
McAvennie insisted Postecoglou will not want to risk fielding non-first team players for the fixture.
“You cannot mess about and I don’t think Ange will mess about,” he told Football Insider.
“He won it last year, he put a statement down and I think he’ll want to retain it. I can’t see him going up there and making sweeping changes.
“The season will have started by the time they go up there. So I think he’s got to play his first team. He’s got to keep his nucleus of 14 players.
“He might change one or two but he’ll not make wholesale changes I wouldn’t think. I think he’ll want to go an win it, I don’t think he’ll take any chances.“

Postecoglou has already made seven signings during the summer transfer window.
Those signings including permanent deals for Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda.
