Angelo Stiller’s stance on joining Man United now revealed as Stuttgart set asking price

Ruben Amorim could bolster his Manchester United squad during the January transfer window.

Man United are looking for a midfielder to replace the ageing Casemiro, and several names have emerged on their radar.

United have been linked to Crystal Palace maestro Adam Wharton, while a big-money move for Brighton’s Carlos Baleba hasn’t been ruled out.

Steve Parish expects Wharton to join a big club eventually, and Old Trafford could be his preferred destination.

Wharton has been likened to Michael Carrick for his ability to control games in the middle of the park, but the Englishman isn’t the only player being touted for a move.

Stuttgart set Angelo Stiller asking price amid Man United interest

In the summer transfer window, Football Insider revealed that Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller was attracting interest from Liverpool.

The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best ball players in the Bundesliga, and has even become a huge part of Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany side.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Stiller has scored once and assisted four in all competitions this term, with his stock and value skyrocketing.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Man United are one of the clubs eyeing the German maestro, with Florian Plettenberg reporting that he’s open to a move.

The well-known journalist also revealed that Stuttgart want more than £43million (€50m) for the midfielder, perhaps making him cheaper than Wharton and Baleba.

Stiller could become the first German player to feature for Man United since Bastian Schweinsteiger, who spent two years at the club from 2015 to 2017.

Stiller is one of Europe’s best midfielders at passing

Man United’s midfield struggles this season have stemmed from not having someone in a deeper role capable of progressing play up the pitch.

Bruno Fernandes has been deployed in a more defensive role when the Portuguese maestro is better used as a number 10, and signing Stiller would undoubtedly fix that problem.

Encouragingly, the Stuttgart star ranks in the top five per cent of Europe’s midfielders for an array of metrics, including shot-creating actions, progressive passes and passes into the final third.

Meanwhile, at the age of 24, he has the capacity and potential to become even better, which is potentially an exciting prospect for United.
