‘Angry’ Ronaldo backed after being spotted ‘bawling’ at ’embarrassing’ Man United star – pundit

Frank McAvennie has slammed Man United after they failed to beat relegation-threatened Newcastle.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, singled out Marcus Rashford for extra criticism.

Man United were second best all evening as they drew 1-1 with Newcastle United on Monday (27 December).

The result leaves the Red Devils 17th in the Premier League table though they do have games in hand on the teams above.

McAvennie has backed Ronaldo after he spotted the player shouting at Rashford during the game.

“They are absolutely hopeless,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s embarrassing. I saw Ronaldo getting criticised for shouting and bawling at Rashford.

“Rashford was trying to be too clever all night, he kept losing the ball.

“You could do that under Ole but now it’s about results. Ronaldo was angry with Rashford’s performance.

“Rightly so, he was embarrassing. You can’t get away with that. Ronaldo wants the best, he’s not getting that.

“There was a chance for Rashford to play Ronaldo in and he messed it up, that’s just lazy.

“Things like that cost you the win and the rest of the team weren’t much better against Newcastle.

“Man United have been getting away with this for far too long. Rangnick needs to read them the riot act over the next few days.”

Man United

Man United are next in action against Burnley on 29 December.

They have the chance to move as high as fifth with a win.
