Anthony Elanga responds to message from Wolves star after transfer latest
Wolves and Nottingham Forest have both battled to keep hold of their best players this summer after contrasting Premier League seasons.
Forest flew up the Premier League table after they narrowly avoided relegation in 2024 to record a seventh-placed finish last season, and sat in the Champions League spots for much of the campaign.
By contrast, Wolves slipped into relegation trouble and occupied the bottom three for the first half of last season, until Vitor Pereira‘s arrived coincided with a surge in form which eventually lifted them to 16th.
Wolves’ squad has since lost two of its best players in the form of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri though, and Forest are desperate to prevent their key men departing in big-money moves this summer.

Elanga sends two-word message as Nottingham Forest exit looms
Although Wolves were powerless to prevent Manchester United and Manchester City from signing Cunha and Ait-Nouri respectively, but Forest will hope to avoid Elanga following suit with Newcastle interested.
Football Insider revealed on 6 July that Newcastle are ready to turn attention to PSV’s Johan Bakayoko after their initial bid of £45million for Elanga was rejected, but they have submitted a new £55m offer.
Forest value Elanga at £60m and above and are keen for him to stay put ahead of their UEFA Conference League campaign next season, as the Swedish winger responded to a Wolves player on social media.
Toti Gomes posted on Instagram (6 July) with a series of photos taken across his off-season break, and Elanga sent the comment; “my guy”, alongside Leeds forward Largie Ramazani’s message of “big twin”.
Elanga exit could derail Nottingham Forest transfer plan
Football Insider Verdict
Although Forest missed out on the £70m windall they would have earned with Champions League qualification, the Conference League still provides Reds fans with a first European adventure in 29 years.
Nuno Espirito Santo is therefore keen to expand his squad’s depth as Forest prepare to compete on several fronts, with Botafogo trio Igor Jesus, Cuiabano and Jair Cunha all on their way to the City Ground.
Elanga‘s future remains up in the air and Forest must decide whether to stick or twist with their starting right winger, as Nuno weighs up the prospect of replacing the Sweden international with £60m in the coffers to do so.
