Anthony Gordon ‘frustrated’ at Newcastle United as unseen footage emerges – pundit
Alan Hutton has suggested Anthony Gordon has been “frustrated” by his lack of game time at Newcastle United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Gordon needs the “right people” around him at the club to manage his temperament.
The 22-year-old started on the bench for Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday (8 April) and despite being subbed on at half time, was brought off again by Eddie Howe just before full time.
In footage shared to Twitter (9 April), the winger reacted angrily to being replaced and shrugged off Howe’s attempts to talk to him.
As quoted by talkSPORT (8 April), the Magpies boss said he has “no problem” with Gordon but said he needs to “control his emotions”.
Gordon joined the north east giants in the January window for £45million.
When asked if the big price tag may have impacted the youngster’s attitude, Hutton told Football Insider: “It depends what kind of character you are.
“Some people may think that but you can’t put everybody under that umbrella.
“He did sign for a lot of money, he is at a club that are going for top four and really going places.
“He left Everton, it was a difficult situation with the fans, he is from the area. There might be a little bit of frustration built up from that.

“Maybe in his mind he was coming to start and play week in, week out. That has not quite worked. That can affect you as well.
“Being so young, you need the right people around you, the right temperament, maybe it is just a little bit of frustration boiling over. There is no doubting his talent but there is probably just a little bit of frustration there.“
