Anthony Gordon ‘might not win a decision’ ever again at Everton as career ‘guarantee’ issued – pundit

Anthony Gordon will fail to get correct refereeing decisions throughout his career after diving during Everton v Liverpool.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Sunday’s (24 April) Merseyside derby.

The 21-year-old was booked for simulation in the 25th minute after a challenge by Naby Keita in the Liverpool penalty area.

He then went down under a Joel Matip challenge in the second half but referee Stuart Attwell waved away Everton’s appeals for a penalty.

Kenny insists this will continue to happen as the youngster now has a reputation for trying to deceive referees.

“I can guarantee you he didn’t get that second decision because of his dive,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If that hadn’t happened, he would have got the penalty, 100%. I’m certain of it.

“That’s going to keep happening now, he might not get another decision again.

“That’s not good for Everton and hopefully they don’t see an impact from that but it’s something they might have to factor in.

“Referees take note of that kind of thing. It was a penalty, I don’t know why it wasn’t given.

“Gordon’s dive is the only thing I can think of and he is such a good player.

“He doesn’t need to do it so I hope it’s something he can move past. You don’t like to see it in a young player like that.”

Everton

Gordon has made 29 appearances in the Premier League this season.

He has scored four goals and provided two assists.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has issued an ‘absolutely critical’ claim as Everton are on the verge of a £300million deal.
