Anthony Gordon responds to Gibbs-White message amid Arsenal transfer speculation

Arsenal’s recruitment team will have a close eye on Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon during the international break.

England face Senegal in a friendly at Nottingham Forest‘s City Ground on 7 June after a dismal display in just the third match of Thomas Tuchel’s tenure, limping to a dismal 1-0 win over Andorra in Barcelona.

Tuchel‘s side will be expected to improve massively upon a below-par performance in a match which will see Gibbs-White take centre stage, as his long-term Forest future comes under increased speculation.

Football Insider revealed on 24 May that Arsenal had joined Man City in the race to sign Gibbs-White this summer after Forest failed to reach the Champions League, and have since become front-runners.

Arsenal now lead the way for Gibbs-White after Man City agreed a deal to sign AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, and it’s currently unclear when the 25-year-old will next be a ‘home’ player at the City Ground.

Gibbs-White and Gordon send messages after England display

England’s passive performance against Andorra on Saturday barely provided a distraction from the ever-growing momentum transfer discourse surrounding several players, including Gibbs-White and Gordon.

Gibbs-White was limited to an injury-time cameo at RCDE Stadium while Gordon came on in the 80th minute, with the Newcastle United winger also heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates this summer.

Both transfer-linked players are expected to play much more prominent roles against Senegal at the City Ground, and Gibbs-White posted on Instagram (7 June) after his late substitute appearance.

The Forest number 10’s post was captioned with an England flag and ‘love heart’ emoji, as Gordon commented with one of the latter as well as a ‘fingers crossed’.

Arsenal eye double transfer swoop for England stars

The Gunners have plenty of representation in Tuchel’s latest Three Lions camp, including Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly, although Bukayo Saka was dropped from the matchday squad after an injury issue.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add Gibbs-White and Gordon to his own contingent, but Football Insider revealed last month that Newcastle’s Champions League qualification leaves Arsenal at long odds to sign Gordon.

Gibbs-White is far likelier to be on the move after Forest were only able to reach the Conference League, and he could be set to join Brazilian winger Rodrygo in a new-look Arsenal attack ahead of next season.
