Antonio Conte facing ‘power struggle’ at Tottenham amid £14.5m bid update – pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Tottenham boss Antonio Conte will be facing a “power struggle” amid his striking options if Memphis Depay is signed this summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted it would be “difficult to contain” the 28-year-old if he wasn’t playing every game.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT (17 July), Conte’s side have made contact with Barcelona over a potential move for Depay – who has just one year remaining on his contract.

The report claims Tottenham are willing to pay €17million (£14.5million) for the former Man United forward’s services.
Tottenham have already completed the signing of one striker this summer – with Everton star Richarlison joining in a reported £60million switch.
Whelan suggested Conte could struggle to manage his striking options despite Spurs potentially fighting on four fronts this term.
“Sometimes you can have too many players in one area,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s not going to be able to play week-in, week-out.
“Even before Richarlison came in, you could look at their front three and think it didn’t really need changing.
“They’ve brought him in for £60million – but he’s versatile, and can cover a number of positions in that attack.
“If you have too many players in one area of the pitch, big egos, big names. It becomes a bit more of a power struggle.
“It’s difficult to contain players like Depay and Richarlison when they’re not playing every game.
“I think it’s an exciting prospect, but I just don’t see where he fits in.”

Tottenham have already made six signings this summer – including Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence.
They will start the 2022-23 campaign with a home clash against Southampton on 6 August.
