Antonio Conte has lost Tottenham dressing room as new details emerge – ‘I’ve heard the talk,’ says expert

Alan Hutton has claimed Antonio Conte is causing problems within the Tottenham dressing room.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back said players will be annoyed at the manager’s recent comments about their inability to finish within the top four.

As quoted by the Telegraph (1 January), Conte told Tottenham supporters that fifth place in the Premier League is the best they can hope for after they fell to a 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa.

The Italian added that the league will be “very difficult” for his team for the remainder of the season and that a sixth or seventh place finish may even be all his side can achieve.

The Lilywhites are currently fifth in the Premier League after a 2-2 draw with Brentford followed by the loss to Aston Villa.

Hutton is worried about the impact Conte’s comments will be having on the players.

It would have bothered me when I was there,” he told Football Insider.

He is basically saying they are not good enough. So I can imagine the chat within the dressing room.

I just think there is always something behind when you listen to him talk. He has said this several times where he is talking about his own contract and how he could be leaving.

I just feel like it is a little shot to the border to Daniel Levy to back him. It just seems like this is why he keeps on saying it.

As a player, I would be annoyed. He is basically saying that they are not good enough to finish higher up the league.
