Antonio Conte: Insider issues ‘disaster’ Tottenham verdict as club ‘feel uncomfortable’ with controversy
Sky Italy only have themselves to blame after Antonio Conte was banned from speaking to Italian media by Tottenham.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
The Spurs boss seemingly criticised Tottenham’s January business during an interview with Sky Italy last week (16 February) before clarifying his comments during Friday’s (18 February) press conference.

As per Conte, quoted by the Daily Mail (18 February), has now been banned from speaking to Italian media by the club.
Spurs signed Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in January while Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli, Giovanni Lo Celso and Bryan Gil left the club.
Wenham has slammed Sky Italia’s efforts to cause controversy at the club.
“It was an issue for the club because he says he’s been banned by the club from speaking to Italian media,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Things can get misrepresented. When the first quotes came out on Wednesday night they were very selective.
“When the full interview came out it didn’t seem as bad. It’s about reading the full copy.
“What he said was actually right. If you lose four important players and sign two, you have a weaker squad.
“When it came to him clarifying that he explained ‘important’ was in relation to how much Tottenham had spent on those players.
“We spent a fortune and they did nothing. Lo Celso and Ndombele were a disaster.

“So was Conte wrong? No, not really. Sky Italia weren’t going to dig into that, they want their headlines.
“The club clearly feel uncomfortable with Conte speaking to Italian media now so that won’t be happening going forward.”
