Antonio Conte ‘massively relieved’ after ‘huge’ Arsenal development – Campbell

Kevin Campbell has claimed Tottenham manager Antonio Conte “will be massively relieved” after Arsenal failed to capitalise on their loss to Brighton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said Mikel Arteta’s side “cannot hide” from the “huge chance missed” at Southampton.

Spurs handed the initiative in the top-four race to Arsenal after a 1-0 loss to Brighton on Saturday.

However, the Gunners failed to seize the opportunity after slipping to a 1-0 defeat at St. Mary’s.

As quoted by Football.London (17 April), Arteta revealed he feels his side squandered a “huge” chance to regain the upper hand over their rivals.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to Arsenal’s result and performance, Campbell said: “Tottenham will be massively relieved.

“You cannot hide from it, it was a huge chance missed from us.

“Arsenal just can’t get themselves going at the moment. It is a game we could have won but at the same time they could have been playing until next week and still not have scored.

“I’m disappointed but I’m not going to lose sleep over it. We still have a game in hand though.

“There is some tough games coming up. Arsenal need to look after themselves. They only have themselves to blame. You cannot look at other teams. You have to do the business.”

When asked how big an opportunity was missed, Arteta said: “Huge.

“If someone didn’t know the result and watched the game, you know what they would tell you – that Arsenal won the game. And we didn’t.”
