Antonio Conte: Pundit issues ‘crazy’ verdict after Tottenham source’s update today on his future
Antonio Conte could walk away from Tottenham in the summer if he isn’t backed during the early months of the next transfer window.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider amid an update on the Italian’s future.
On Friday (18 February), this site revealed Paris Saint-Germain are actively monitoring Conte’s future at Tottenham as they line up a move.
A French source has told Football Insider that the Champions League giants are considering replacements for Mauricio Pochettino and Conte is high on their target list.
This update came after the Spurs boss seemingly criticised the club’s January business during an interview with Sky in Italy (16 February) before doubling down on his comments during Friday’s press conference.
After these updates, Kenny insists it will take heavy backing in the transfer market to keep Conte at Spurs beyond this season.
“He’s not been backed like he was probably promised,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“There is no way Conte takes that job if he hasn’t been told he will be heavily backed.
“That hasn’t happened. January is a tough month to get players in and other clubs did steal players away.
“We saw that with Luis Diaz and Adama Traore. The summer window is a really important one for Tottenham.
“Not just Tottenham but Conte as well. If there is another disappointing period without any real transfers then realistically, he could go.

“He only signed a short-term deal and I’m sure he will walk if he wants to. That would be crazy.
“He won’t hang around if he isn’t going to get what he wants. It’d be a shock if he quits for PSG but it could easily happen.”
