Antonio Conte tipped to sign new Tottenham contract after update – pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Antonio Conte to sign a new Tottenham contract this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Conte will want to continue his work at Spurs and take them closer to a trophy.
The 52-year-old signed an 18-month contract with Tottenham when he took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the beginning of November 2021.
He guided them to a top-four finish and qualification for the Champions League for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
A 5-0 win at Norwich City on Sunday (23 May) secured a fourth-place finish but Conte was non-committal regarding his future after the game.
As quoted by ESPN, the Italian refused to confirm he will be at the north London club next season and suggested he needed to speak to the club’s hierarchy over their summer plans.
Asked whether Tottenham fans should be worried about Conte’s future, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I don’t think so, no.
“I think Conte will sign a new contract. He’s got them into the Champions League, that’s what he was there to do.
“He will want to take them closer to a league title, closer to a trophy.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if next season he does get a trophy for Spurs.”

Tottenham were down in ninth, five points behind the top four when Conte took over.
He ended the season with a win rate of 60.7 per cent from 28 Premier League games, including victories over Man City and Arsenal.
