Antonio Conte will defy Dejan Kulusevski after Tottenham reveal – pundit

Antonio Conte will not alter his Tottenham tactics to accommodate Dejan Kulusevski as a number 10, according to Alan Hutton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and Scotland defender insisted Kulusevski is “really dangerous” as a left-winger.

The 22-year-old told football.london last month (29 July) that his preferred position is the number 10 role.

Although he did admit that he has played his best football off the right, as shown at Tottenham since his January move from Juventus.

He’s scored six times and provided a further nine assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for the north London out.

“I think he is good in that position,” Hutton told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen.

“His awareness is second to none, he knows what’s going on around him and picks up those pockets of space.

“I do like him from that right-hand side, when he cuts in on his left foot he’s really dangerous.

“The problem with him playing in a number 10 position is Antonio Conte would have to change his formation.

“Do I think he’s going to do that? Not really. He’s set in his ways, he likes playing the 3-4-3 with attacking wing-backs.

“It’s an option for him, he likes to come inside, but for him to be that natural number 10 the manager would have to change formation.”

Kulusevski is technically on loan at Tottenham until next summer.

The club paid an £8.4million loan for the Sweden international and the deal is set to become a permanent one in 2023 for a further £29.5million
