Archie Gray latest as ‘six’ of Leeds best players expected to leave – sources
Leeds United are likely to see at least five or six high-profile players leave the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed he expects there to be a “mass exodus” at Elland Road as the club looks to balance the books.
Football Insider revealed on 26 May the Whites must recoup an astonishing £150million in player sales after failing to gain promotion.
There is expected to be interest around the likes of star players Crysencio Summerville, 22, Wilfried Gnonto, 20, Georginio Rutter, 22, and Archie Gray, 18, after they impressed last season.
Sources have told Football Insider up to 20 players could leave the club this summer as a number of players’ contracts are coming to an end, while key first-teamers are either set to push for transfers or could be sold to raise much-needed funds.
Crysencio Summerville likely to be one of several Leeds United exits
The majority of the interest is expected to be around Summerville after he was named the Championship’s Player of the Season following several outstanding displays.
Football Insider revealed on 31 May it will “impossible” for the Whites to keep hold of the Dutch winger after they were beaten 1-0 by Southampton in the play-off final.
Rutter and Gnonto could also depart if reasonable offers are made for their services as the attacking duo look to compete at a higher level next season.
But Leeds are hoping teenager Gray will remain at Elland Road beyond this summer after Football Insider revealed on 28 May the club are going to do “everything they can” to keep him in West Yorkshire.

Paraag Marathe has admitted sales may be necessary as the club look to comply with the profit and sustainability rules (PSR), but he refused to be drawn on who could be sold.
But the Whites chairman suggested he’s looking forward to working with Daniel Farke again next season after Football Insider first revealed on 28 May the 49ers-led board are fully behind the German despite their promotion failure.
