Argentina take note: Alejandro Garnacho’s pass map paves the way for breakthrough
Alejandro Garnacho delivered a spellbinding performance for Chelsea in their 3-0 victory over Wolves on 8 November, increasing the possibility of a comeback in the Argentina squad.
Over the summer, Garnacho joined Chelsea from Man United after being exiled under Ruben Amorim.
The 21-year-old suffered a difficult adjustment period to life in west London but, in recent matches, has started to find his feet, racking up two goals and two assists in his last four matches in all competitions.
Yet, even with Argentina qualified for the 2026 World Cup, the number 49 was omitted from the squad, as he desperately seeks to break into the fold come next summer.

Lionel Scaloni must take note of Garnacho excellence vs Wolves
Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 victory against Wolves in which the former Man United academy graduate dazzled.
The Argentine was a creative marvel against the Wanderers, delivering three key passes and creating two big chances which culminated in two assists for his side.
Garnacho’s pass map, as demonstrated by Football Insider’s data partnership with Opta, reflected his care with the ball, completing 35 of his 38 passes with a 92 per cent accuracy rate.

Moreover, the number 49 also helped the Blues out defensively, winning three of his four ground duels in 90 minutes.
However, the Argentina international will want to work on his finishing ability as he missed one big chance from three attempts, especially if he wants to feature again for the national team.
Emiliano Buendia’s emergency recall offers Garnacho hope
Ahead of the South American side’s friendly against Angola on 14 November, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia was called up to Argentina due to last minute dropouts.
A few members of the Albiceleste squad were not vaccinated for yellow fever, offering an opportunity for the ex-Norwich City man to appear for his country for the first time since February 2022.

Yet, this presents an evident roadblock to Garnacho forcing his way back into Scaloni’s thinking.
Given the Chelsea man was not chosen immediately to come into the team due to these enforced changes, it highlights that he must work harder to get back into the national team set-up.
The 21-year-old last featured for Argentina back in November 2024 and, with the World Cup fast approaching, must continue to perform well for the Blues to get back in Scaloni’s good books.
