Arne Slot already has his Mohamed Salah successor after what Liverpool star just did

Liverpool supporters can only sit and wonder about what life will be like without Mohamed Salah running down the wing.

With 248 goals and 116 assists in 411 appearances, no player comes close to the Egyptian’s impact over the last eight years, etching his name into the history books at Anfield.

At 33 years of age, the winger could have just a matter of months left with the Reds, and Football Insider understands that Liverpool are expecting Salah to leave for Saudi Arabia before his contract expires.

There has already been a lot of talk about who could replace the legendary figure, with Football Insider also understanding that Liverpool have joined the race to sign Michael Olise from Bayern Munich.

Arne Slot may already have the answer right under his nose, though.

Liverpool are on the hunt for Mohamed Salah’s successor

Bournemouth‘s Antoine Semenyo is another name highly regarded by Liverpool, but after a summer of record spending, it may not be the most sensible of decisions to splash more.

The Reds broke the British transfer record twice in a matter of weeks, first to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, before getting out the chequebook again for Alexander Isak.

None of those figures are destined to have quite the same impact on the wing as Salah, however, so a position change for another new signing could be the answer in the coming seasons.

Much like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jeremie Frimpong‘s biggest weakness has been highlighted as his defending, often getting too far forward when Liverpool get turned over. Slot can turn this into a strength.

While the Netherlands were only up against Malta on Thursday, 9 October, Frimpong highlighted his strengths in the final third as teammate Cody Gakpo scored twice from the penalty spot.

He caused absolute chaos on the right flank, getting Malta’s left-back cautioned after just 37 minutes, and forcing the opponent deeper and deeper into their own half with his mazy runs.

No player will ever live up to what Salah has managed for the Reds, but if the club want to save on money following his looming departure, Frimpong could offer a very quick fix in the final third.

He proved in the Bundesliga that he does have an eye for goal, notching 28 goals over the last three campaigns for Leverkusen, and that is something the player can work more on at Anfield.
