‘Arrogant’ Aaron Ramsdale told to ‘calm down’ as controversial Arsenal footage emerges – pundit

Aaron Ramsdale is “arrogant” and needs to “calm down” if he wants to be a long-term success at Arsenal, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Ramsdale’s theatrics during Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Man United on Saturday (23 April).

The goalkeeper, 23, celebrated in the face of Bruno Fernandes after his missed penalty at the Emirates.

With Man United leading 2-1 Fernandes’ penalty sent Ramsdale the wrong way but struck the outside of his right post.

“Ramsdale needs to calm down and stop getting ahead of himself,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Keepers are going to go through bad spells. He’s going through a good spell at the moment but don’t get too arrogant with it. He looks like he’s got that arrogance on him, to be honest.

“Fernandes missed a penalty and you’re running up to him like Martin Keown and the Arsenal players did to Ruud van Nistelrooy.

“Relax because if I’m Fernandes, the next time I play against you and score then I’m going to do that to you.

“I think he has to relax and calm down. If he wants to be England number one you can’t be doing that.

“Celebrate with your teammates, don’t run towards Fernandes.”

Arsenal

Ramsdale has kept 12 clean sheets in 29 Premier League games in his debut season for Arsenal.

He moved to the club from Sheffield United last summer (2021) following their relegation from the top-flight.
