Arsenal backed to agree Bukayo Saka deal after source’s £50m+ reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has insisted Arsenal need to tie down Bukayo Saka to a long-term deal “as soon as possible”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said the Gunners will want to keep Saka as the Emirates for “as long as possible”.

On Wednesday (5 October), sources told this site that Mikel Arteta’s side have reached an agreement in principle over a new deal for the 21-year-old which will increase his wages to nearly £200,000 per week.

The midfielder is now ready to sign a five-year contract, meaning the deal will be worth around £52million in total.

As reported by the Daily Mail (2 October), the England international has “personally invested” in an executive box at the Emirates, hinting that he is committed to a long-term future in London.

Hutton insisted Arsenal need to secure Saka for as long as possible.

“If they want to keep continuing on the process that they are currently in the middle of, you have to keep your good players,” he told Football Insider.

I think they have got a good level of youth and experience. Saka is one of their main go-to guys in that attacking third. He brings a lot of pace and energy, so you want to keep him at the club for as long as possible.

He is still so young so he is only going to improve and get better with age. I think he is one that you have to tie down long-term as soon as possible.
