Arsenal backed to agree Raphinha signing after Sky update – pundit

Alan Hutton has backed Arsenal to agree a deal for Raphinha.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said Mikel Arteta will find it difficult to axe one of his current options in favour of Raphinha.

According to Sky Sports (15 January), the Gunners have made contact with the 26-year-old’s agent over a potential January move after Chelsea hijacked their bid for Myhailo Mudryk.

The winger’s current contract at Barcelona runs until 2027 after he joined from Leeds United in the summer.

Hutton suggested it would be a good match.

“I think it would be a good signing,” he told Football Insider.

I wonder if that means Chelsea will try and buy him as well.

“It seems like he is happy where he is, he wants to win things at Barcelona. It really comes down to the fee. Is he going to come there and be a starter, is he going to be a squad player?

When you think of the money that they are talking, he would fit in but who do you take out? That is the problem for Arsenal.

I think they are a little bit light so they need reinforcements and that is why they have gone for the players that they have recently.

So I think he would be a really good addition. He knows the league as well, knows what it is all about so I think it could be a good fit.
