Arsenal backed to push Man City all the way as yet more signings agreed – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Arsenal to push Man City in the Premier League title race once again next season.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Gunners will not be alone in rivalling the Citizens – with Man United and Liverpool also tipped to mount a challenge.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side spent a total of 248 days at the top of the table last season but suffered a late-season collapse as Man City won their third consecutive league title.

The Gunners have had an aggressive start to the transfer window as they attempt to make another title push.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 July) that Arsenal are set to complete deals for both Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this week for a combined fee of around £145million.

Arteta’s side have already confirmed the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea for a fee of around £65million and are preparing to make way for their second and third arrivals of the summer.

Despite Arsenal’s heavy spending early in the transfer window, Agbonlahor believes that the Gunners will not be the only club to challenge Man City next season.

“I think Arsenal will push Man City close in the next campaign,” he told Football Insider.

“Arsenal will be up there, but I think other teams will as well. Liverpool will be, as their fans will not accept another mediocre season.

“Man United also can’t be happy with just qualifying for the top four every season, so they will also mount a greater challenge.

“It will not just be Arsenal challenging.”
