Arsenal could sign Calvert-Lewin from Everton after reported swoop – pundit

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will cost Arsenal “a lot of money”, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Everton are more likely to finish in the top-six and therefore he would not jump ship to move to Arsenal.

The Sun report (October 6) the Gunners are eyeing the England international as a potential replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette’s £180,000-a-week contract expires at the end of the season and it looks unlikely he will extend his stay in north London.

Mikel Arteta could look to cash in on the 30-year-old in January but only if he is able to bring in cover for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Calvert-Lewin ars said to be on Arsenal’s radar.

Calvert-Lewin, who has scored 43 times in 150 Premier League games for Everton, is under contract at Goodison Park until the summer of 2025.

Asked whether the 24-year-old would be a good signing for the north London club, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It could be.

“It’s going to cost Arsenal a lot of money out of Everton so I don’t see that happening.

“I feel Everton are more likely to get into the top six than Arsenal so I don’t see it at the moment.”

Calvert-Lewin has scored 56 times and provided 16 assists in 176 games across all competitions for Everton.

The 11-cap England international has not featured for Rafa Benitez’s side since suffering a toe injury in the 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of August.
