Arsenal dressing room verdict issued by pundit after journalist’s Bukayo Saka update
Alan Hutton has claimed the Arsenal dressing room will welcome Bukayo Saka being offered a bumper new contract.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League defender said other players’ high wages never bothered him or any of his teammates.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Sami Mokbel (23 July), Saka, 20, is close to agreeing a new contract at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta’s side are said to have offered the winger an extension worth double his current £70,000 per-week deal.
The new agreement would see Saka become one of the top earners at the Emirates.
Saka currently has two years remaining on his contract with the London club.
When asked if Saka being offered higher wages could upset the dressing room, Hutton told Football Insider: “I can only go off my experiences and it was nothing that ever bothered me or anybody round about me.

“Don’t get me wrong if it was somebody who wasn’t playing, who was sitting in the stands and threw his toys out the pram then of course you’re going to be annoyed with it.
“Saka is someone who loves playing football, always plays with a smile on his face, always gives 110 per cent. He’s scoring goals, he’s assisting, he’s playing at a high level so why would you begrudge somebody that if they deserve it. Ultimately they’re making you and your team better so you have no reason to complain.“
