Gary Neville makes controversial claim about Sanchez and Ozil

Gary Neville has claimed Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s wage demands are unmerited, and said they’re not the best players Arsenal have had.

The Sky Sports pundit believes there have been better players in the last two decades and also said he “wouldn’t worry” if the duo left Arsenal.

His comments were backed up by Graeme Sounness and Theirry Henry who also claimed the players didn’t deserve to be paid a huge amount.

“Arsenal have had far better players than them in the last 20 years. I wouldn’t worry too much if they leave,” Neville told Sky Sports TV after the game against Man City on Sunday.

The future of Ozil and Sanchez have come under much speculation in recent weeks after it was revealed the duo wanted the same wages as Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney.

It would mean the club would have to pay weekly wages of over £200,000 a week and, so far, they have appeared unwilling to do that.

The duo have been Arsenal’s best players this season and many fans regard Ozil as the best number 10 in the Premier League.

He has scored five goals and provided two assists in 15 league appearances so far this season, while Sanchez has already netted 12 goals and is the second highest goal-scorer in the English top flight.
