Kieran Maguire salutes Arsenal as new ‘expansion’ plan emerges

Arsenal are attempting to “expand their brand” through the release of new streetwear-style merchandise.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gunners’ latest range of pre-match training wear.

Arsenal revealed the yellow and green Adidas kit, which is inspired by the club’s Jamaican supporters, on 26 August.

The Londoners explained that the kit “mixes football and fashion” in keeping with their releases in collaboration with Adidas in recent years.

Mikel Arteta’s side are still top of the Premier League table despite their 3-1 defeat at Man United on Sunday (4 September).

And Maguire claims that the club is trying to capitalise on the level of attention they are currently generating to push their commercial appeal.

“Arsenal’s release of this pre-match shirt is an indication that the club wants to expand their brand,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“They have the appeal and attention that has gone with the Amazon All or Nothing series, which is shown to a global audience.

“If people are impressed with what they have seen from Arteta and co, one way of reflecting that is to buy some streetwear.

“These are sold at different price points to matchday shirts and they might be appealing to a slightly different audience as well.

“Anything that expands the demographic in terms of interactions with the club has got to be applauded.”
