Arsenal fans ‘heartbroken’ after shock manager resignation
Arsenal fans are “gutted” after Jonas Eidevall resigned as manager of the club’s women’s team.
The 41-year-old has stepped down with immediate effect, ending his three-year stint in charge of the team.
Arsenal won two FA Women’s Continental League Cups under Eidevall, while the club also reached the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League in 2022-23 for the first time in a decade.
First-team assistant coach Renee Slegers will take charge of the team on an interim basis while the club looks to hire a permanent manager.
Arsenal currently sit sixth in the Women’s Super League, but have only managed to win one of their opening four fixtures.
The Gunners suffered back-to-back defeats against Bayern Munich and local rivals Chelsea last week, which brought an end to Eidevall’s time at the club.
