Arsenal fans rage at new twist in Ben White controversy as photo emerges – ‘it’s criminal’
Arsenal fans have rushed to the defence of defender Ben White after a photo of him on holiday emerged days after he snubbed an England call-up.
White’s wife Milly shared a picture to social media of the pair playing Uno poolside on Saturday (23 March) – the same day England were defeated 1-0 by Brazil at Wembley.
The images have caused outrage in some quarters – with ex-Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling slamming the Arsenal star live on talkSPORT.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate revealed earlier this month (15 March) that the Gunners defender had asked not to be considered for selection for friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
He claimed it would now be “difficult” for White to make the squad for this year’s European Championships.
Arsenal fans defend White after new England snub backlash
Since Southgate’s comments, The Telegraph has claimed (20 March) the defender’s self-imposed exclusion from England selection is due to a comment made by assistant coach Steve Holland at the World Cup in Qatar.
White made his international debut in June 2021 and has racked up four appearances for the Three Lions.
The versatile star, who recently signed a new four-year deal, is a well-liked figure at Arsenal and Gunners fans have leapt to his defence on social media.
