Arsenal have reportedly identified Arda Turan as the man to replace Mesut Ozil in the summer – but fans have reacted with disappointment on Twitter.
The Times claimed that the 30-year-old Barcelona star is the man Arsenal want if Ozil leaves the Emirates Stadium, with the German’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2018.
Formerly of Atletico Madrid, Turan has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp, with the likes of Andres Iniesta, Andre Gomes, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets all ahead of him.
However, the Gunners could now look to end his stay with the Spanish giants as doubts over the future of Germany international Ozil linger on.
Arsenal fans are not happy on Twitter with the potential signing of Turkey international Turan, with many claiming that he is not an improvement on their current squad.
Fans are worried that his form with Barcelona, which has seen him start just 22 La Liga games in two seasons, means he is now past his peak and Arsenal will be left with a player who is deteriorating rather than improving.

Turan is 30 and has hardly set the world alight at Barcelona. Would be a significant downgrade.

It is believed that Wenger has been a keen admirer of Turan for a long time, and tried to sign him before Barcelona coughed up £26million to take him from Atletico Madrid.
In other Arsenal transfer news, former Miss Turkey could play a crucial part in Ozil’s exit.
