‘He’ll be in the Premiership next season’: Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Pickford display in win v Sunderland

By Matt Farr

Jordan Pickford was one of the best players on the pitch during Arsenal’s win over Sunderland on Tuesday night – and fans on Twitter were impressed.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper put in a resurgent display for Sunderland, as Arsenal bombarded the Black Cats’ goal with an incredible 36 shots.

However, despite Pickford making 11 saves, a brace from Alexis Sanchez ensured Arsenal kept their top-four hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Emirates.

Pickford has kept just four clean sheets from his 28 appearances in the Premier League this term, but that does not do his efforts justice, and Arsenal fans have urged the club to make a move for him this summer.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Pickford’s impressive displays for Sunderland this season have caught the eye of a number of potential suitors, with the goalkeeper looking likely to be offered an extended stay in the top-flight following the club’s relegation.

The Telegraph have reported that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Everton, West Ham and Manchester United are all interested in making a move this summer, and it is likely to cost them up to £25million.

Arsenal have considered a move for a new goalkeeper this summer after fears that current No.1 Petr Cech is on the decline, while deputy stopper David Ospina is likely to be sold.

Wojciech Szczesny, who is currently on loan at AS Roma, could also return to the club, but fans on Twitter appear adamant that Pickford is the man for the job.
