Arsenal fans will laugh their heads off at what Marc Guehi said after signing for Man City
Marc Guehi completed his £20million move from Crystal Palace to Man City on Monday, an announcement confirmed.
Man City have signed Guehi in response to an injury crisis at the back, which has seen Pep Guardiola‘s side struggle for results.
Josko Gvardiol is expected to miss months of action after suffering a fractured tibia, and Ruben Dias has joined him on the injury table.
The Citizens recalled Max Alleyne from his loan at Watford, but decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium have now sought to strengthen Guardiola’s backline further.
Man City lost 2-0 to Man United in the Manchester derby on Saturday, and are without a win in any of their last four Premier League games.
Marc Guehi laughable in opening Man City words
Man City have very much jumped the queue in signing Guehi. The defender went extremely close to signing for Liverpool on transfer deadline day, and he was expected to have a pick of the clubs when his contract expired in the summer.
Arsenal were among the clubs preparing a summer offer for Guehi, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool expected to be involved.

| Goals | 2 |
| Assists | 2 |
| Tackles | 30 |
| Recoveries | 88 |
| Duels won | 103 |
But Man City have stolen ahead and signed the England international early – a move that angered Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
The Austrian is expected to leave the Eagles in the summer, and lambasted the decision to sanction the exit of his captain.
Speaking following confirmation of his arrival on Monday, Guehi said: “I am really happy and incredibly proud to be a Manchester City player.
“This move feels like the culmination of all the hard work I have put into my career. I am now at the best club in England and part of an unbelievable squad of players. It feels good to be able to say that.”
Arsenal fans will be unconvinced by Guehi’s words
As part of Man City’s announcement for Guehi, the defender was recorded saying: “When they asked if I wanted to come to City, there was only one answer”.
Presumably, that answer was a question on how much the Citizens would be willing to pay.
Very few clubs in world football are capable of casually handing out the reported £300,000 per week wages Guehi is expected to earn at Man City.
Even if the 25-year-old had waited until the summer, when the offers would have been strongest due to his position as a free agent, the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool would have been unlikely to offer that much.
Arsenal fans will also be among those questioning if Guehi does know which club he has signed for.
“The best club in England”, according to the defender, are currently seven points behind the Premier League leaders, are not the current champions, and do not even come close to matching the history of Arsenal, Liverpool or Man United.
Man City have been dominant in the past decade, undoubtedly, but Guehi should be aware that the tide appears to be turning, with Guardiola’s departure this summer not yet ruled out.
