‘He’s incredible’ – Transformed Arsenal player is ‘one of the best in Europe’

An Arsenal star has received high praise from an invincible at the club, who certainly knows how to win a Premier League title.

Arsenal’s 2-0 win over West Ham has put the Gunners one point clear at the top of the Premier League table as they search for a first title since the invincibles in 2004.

Mikel Arteta spent heavily in the summer to address Arsenal‘s failings, where they have come second in each of the past three seasons.

The Gunners now look to have the squad depth to compete on all fronts, with a trip to Fulham first on the schedule after the international break.

Sol Campbell praises Jurrien Timber

One major positive for Arteta this season will be the form of right-back Jurrien Timber, who is currently keeping Ben White out of the side.

Timber leads Arsenal stars in one stat this season as his two goals and assist against Leeds showed he has more than just defensive capabilities in his locker.

Former Arsenal centre-back and invincible Sol Campbell believes Timber is becoming “one of the best” in the position, as per The Times [12 October].

I think Jurrien Timber is probably one of the best right backs in Europe at the moment, Campbell said.

He’s incredible, can score goals, good in one-on-one scenarios. He’s definitely lost a little bit of time from his injury but he’s a top, top player.

I think it comes down to the back five. They know what they’re doing now.

They’re young, but it’s the maturity of their play now. The belief is there. They know they can do it.

Arsenal have opened talks with Timber over a new contract as they look to tie the 24-year-old down to a new long-term deal.

Timber form providing basis for Arsenal success

White has been limited to just 71 minutes of football, amid Timber’s fine form, meaning the former is not getting a chance to stake a claim for Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.

Timber missed his first season at Arsenal due to an ACL injury, but the Netherlands international is beginning to make his mark with a series of strong performances.

Arteta looks to have a settled first-choice back four this season, with Riccardo Calafiori keeping Myles Lewis-Skelly out at left-back.

Arsenal’s strong defensive unit means they have only conceded three Premier League goals in seven matches this season, which is the basis of a title winning team.
