Arsenal-linked Morgan Rogers sends message to Eberechi Eze amid Aston Villa exit speculation

Arsenal star Eberechi Eze and Aston Villa hero Morgan Rogers both hit the headlines for their performances this weekend.

The Villa attacker netted a second-half brace away at Leeds United to help his team to a 2-1 victory in West Yorkshire, before Eze then stole the show in the North London Derby.

The England international hit a hat-trick for Arsenal on their way to a 4-1 victory over Tottenham as they retained their place at the top of the table.

Eze’s display at the Emirates Stadium attracted plenty of attention, not least from Rogers, who has delivered a message that will have speculation surrounding a Villa exit flaring up again.

Ex-Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that any release clause in Rogers’ new contract at Villa is likely to be worth in the region of £120million-£125m.

The Villans tied their star man down to a new deal at the end of October, but that may only provide them with temporary relief when it comes to fending off the top clubs to keep hold of him.

Arsenal were heavily linked with Rogers during the summer transfer window, but were forced to back away from any potential deal by Villa’s unwavering stance regarding their desire to keep him.

If he keeps delivering performances like he has done recently, then the interest in him is highly unlikely to die down any time soon.

Eze took to Instagram after his hat-trick in Sunday’s North London Derby and posted a series of photos of him celebrating his goals, with the post simply captioned: “Jesus.”

His international teammate Rogers was quick to offer a message of support, as he replied with: “Levelssss,” followed by three fire emojis in the comments section.

Morgan Rogers could potentially still join Arsenal

Former Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness revealed on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that Rogers will have made Villa agree to a release clause as part of his new contract, which could only be available to a specific few clubs.

That gives the second city outfit the security of being able to hold interested parties to what will likely be a huge fee if they do want to prize him away.

Given the level of interest that Arsenal showed in him over the summer, it would be a huge surprise if they are not included among the list of clubs that have access to the release clause.

As a result, regardless of the fact that Rogers has only just penned a new contract with his current club, the door could be open for Arsenal to do business either in January or next summer, provided that they have the cash to get it done.
