Arsenal make Takehiro Tomiyasu transfer decision – sources

Arsenal are not looking to sell versatile operator Takehiro Tomiyasu, sources have told Football Insider.

Mikel Arteta believes that the 25-year-old has a future at the Emirates Stadium, and isn’t interested in weakening his squad.

Sources have told Football Insider that it would take a “huge offer” for the Gunners to sell him.

The Japan international can play anywhere across the defensive line, offering Arteta plenty of flexibility in how to use him.

Tomiyasu has yet to make an appearance for the Premier League giants this season in any competition due to being sidelined with a knee injury.

The defender’s contract runs until 2026 at Arsenal, and Football Insider revealed he is happy at the club.

Arsenal aren’t looking to lose Takehiro Tomiyasu despite links

Tomiyasu has been linked with a move to Serie A side Inter Milan recently ahead of the January transfer window.

However, Arsenal aren’t interested in losing the defender at this time, despite other Italian sides also monitoring his situation.

Arteta did sign Riccardo Calafiori during the summer transfer window, providing even more competition for defensive places.

Tomiyasu signed a new contract with the Premier League giants back in March, and Arsenal have an option to extend that by a further 12 months.

The Japan international has made 83 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions since joining the club in 2021.
