Arsenal, Man United, Man City: New front-runner named in race to sign Tino Livramento

Arsenal and Man United have both joined Man City in the race to sign Newcastle United star Tino Livramento ahead of the 2026 transfer windows.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Man City remain the front-runners in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Pep Guardiola is set to prioritise the addition of a new right-back after Kyle Walker‘s move to Burnley which has left them short of options in his position.

However, both Man United and Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on the full-back and could step up their interest if he becomes available in 2026.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider last month that Livramento is happy at Newcastle and would be willing to put pen to paper on a contract extension.

Brown told Football Insider in September that Man City would step up their move for Livramento in the coming year as a new right-back is among their priorities.

However, the former scout who remains very well-connected within the game after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Guardiola’s side will now face stiff competition to get a deal over the line.

Newcastle are confident they can keep hold of him,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s still on a long enough contract that they’re the ones in control, and since then he’s got into the England side and shown what he can do.

“That heightens the interest in him, because all of a sudden clubs start paying attention, especially with the World Cup coming up because he has a good chance of going.

“By all accounts, he’s a good lad, works hard and applies himself, and sometimes that’s the best compliment you can give to a young footballer.

“So it comes as no surprise to me that you’ve now got Man United and Arsenal both looking at him and wondering whether they could bring him in.

“Then, of course, you’ve got Man City who are certainly interested because they don’t have many natural options to play at right-back and he would fit in well.

“If it came down to it, I think they’d still be the favourites ahead of the other two, but we will have to wait and see what happens if any of them make a move.”

Livramento’s stance on leaving Newcastle revealed

Given the growing level of interest in his signature, there have been questions asked about the full-back’s future at Newcastle and whether he could look to leave.

However, Brown told Football Insider on 20 November that Livramento will decide his future after the World Cup as he remains hopeful of making the England squad.

The full-back is aiming to stay fit and firing for Newcastle, and to establish himself in Thomas Tuchel‘s plans to go to the World Cup.

Football Insider revealed last month that Newcastle are doing everything to keep Livramento at the club despite interest from top clubs across Europe.

Following the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico, the focus will shift towards his future whether that involves contract talks with Newcastle or a move elsewhere.
